DipRIAM – Diploma in Music Teaching

The DipRIAM is RIAM’s introductory music teaching diploma, designed for musicians who are ready to begin their professional journey as music educators. 
Grounded in the belief that great teaching is a creative, reflective practice, this diploma helps candidates develop the skills to teach students up to and including Grade V.

Combining case studies, video demonstrations, and practical preparation, the DipRIAM offers an innovative and flexible assessment model

Within 7 days of submitting your application, you will also need to provide your full case study materials and videos in the correct format.

Pre-Requisite Checklist

Before applying, you must ensure that:

  • You are over 18 years old at the time of application.
  • You have attained an Honours in Grade 8 Practical (RIAM or equivalent). A copy of the certificate will be required.
  • You have attained an Honours in Grade 6 Theory (RIAM or equivalent). A copy of the certificate will be required.
  • You have received permission from all relevant parties appearing in your video/case study submissions.
  • You can upload your video (.mov or .mp4) and document (.pdf, .docx, .jpg) submissions in the required format within 7 days of application.
